Vinyl Double-Hung Windows

A double-hung window is a traditional window style with two operable sashes that slide vertically within a single frame. Both the upper and lower sashes open, which allows warm air to escape from the top while cool air enters from the bottom, improving ventilation throughout the room. Most modern double-hung windows, including those from Window World of the Triad, feature tilt-in sashes that make cleaning both sides of the glass from inside the home simple and safe. 

In a single-hung window, only the bottom sash moves while the top sash is fixed. In a double-hung window, both sashes operate and typically tilt inward for cleaning. Single-hung windows tend to be slightly less expensive and have fewer moving parts, while double-hung windows offer more flexible ventilation and easier maintenance — particularly on upper-story windows that are difficult to access from outside.
