Wood-Clad Direct Set & Radius Windows

A direct set window is a fixed, non-operable window in which the glass is installed directly into the frame without a separate sash. This construction method eliminates moving parts, produces a cleaner sightline, and typically delivers stronger energy performance than operable windows. Direct set windows are most commonly used as accent windows, transoms, or as the stationary center unit in a larger window combination such as a picture or bay configuration. 

A radius window is a custom-shaped window with one or more curved sides, such as a half-round arch, quarter-round, elliptical, or full-circle configuration. Radius windows are typically fixed rather than operable and are used to add architectural interest above entryways, in gable ends, or paired above rectangular windows. Wood-clad radius windows combine the custom aesthetic appeal of a curved interior wood frame with a weather-resistant exterior cladding. 

Direct set and radius windows are the right choice when architectural design and natural light are the priority and ventilation is not required. Homeowners commonly select these styles for two-story foyers, great rooms, bedrooms with high ceilings, and exterior walls where a distinctive shape or unobstructed view is desired. They also pair well with operable windows installed nearby to provide the ventilation function in the same room.
